LAURA GUARCH
Singer and pianist, teacher, songwriter, composer and cross-disciplinary performance maker and improviser.
Laura Guarch studied a professional degree on classical piano and clarinet in Conservatory and got her Music Bachelor Degree specialized in Music Education and Contemporary Singing in ESMuC (Barcelona 2011). She has also completed the Orff Certification Program in San Francisco (2013).
Her professional experience as a performer has focused on contemporary music styles and she has performed widely for her own projects and with various groups throughout Europe: Laura Guarch Trio (soul / popjazz), Rizoma (jazz), Barcelona Gospel Messengers (gospel choir), Zoolive (pop-folk). Street Vocals is her last solo project, in which she uses a loop station to cover and improvise soul and pop songs a cappella which led her to perform all along Europe and take part in several international festivals in Switzerland and Germany amongst others.
She has also recorded extensively, appeared on television and collaborated with many artists including visual artists and dancers.
She is the cofounder and workshop leader of ImproPlay, a creativity and mindfulness cross-disciplinary program involving music, dance, theatre and painting to create a space for free self-expression and a sense of community and collaboration for teenagers, adults and team building.
At the moment she is studying an MA on Performance Making at Goldsmiths - University of London, in which she connects music with theatre, dance and multimedia arts. She is interested in creating immersive interdisciplinary experiences related to migration, displacement, spontaneous connections and empowerment.
