At the age of 17 and with his handicap low enough Stuart decided that rather than following a career in design would prefer to take a job as an Assistant in the Pro Shop at Kirkcaldy GC with the view to turning Pro. 4 Years at Kirkcaldy were followed by 6 years at Ladybank GC, an open qualifying course near St. Andrews. It was there that Stuart, under the tutelage of Martin Gray, blossomed as a coach and developed a solid reputation. That reputation helped open the door to a teaching position at The Gleneagles Hotel where in his 4 year`s there he became Head of Instruction. 2007 saw a return to Club life as Head Professional at Eastwood GC. Whilst there, Stuart was named Foremost Pro Of The Year 2010 and Foremost EMP Pro Of The Year 2009 & 2012. Stuart's latest chapter began as Head Professional at Portlethen GC in 2015.
